Yet another tragedy to be read in the paper - horrific for the humans and the dog involved but very avoidable! 90% of dog attacks in the home happen after the dog has been playing - fact! Why? Because dogs have a raised adrenalin level in play and do not make good decisions when they are drunk on adrenalin - they follow their instincts. This dog had inadvertently been incited to do what it did.
Stop dogs attacking your children - by understanding what really goes on with dogs - family pet or animal in your home? A dog can be both safely if only people would educate themselves about dogs. Its time to wake up and WISE UP to dogs. Dogs are not man's best friend because no one told the dog - its a myth that has evolved from a human standpoint. Dogs are NOT responsible for looking after our children - WE are. These tragedies will keep happening until people get real and inform themselves and some proper education is available for them to do this. It isn't dangerous dogs we have to worry about but people's ignorance about dogs.
I read in the paper a few months ago how a man bled to death in his garden after getting in the middle of a spat between his two German Shepherd dogs - the dogs turned on him. With some knowledge of instinctual dog behaviour this need not have happened. When are we going to get real in this country - I can sympathise but my sympathy is slowly running out and is being replaced by increasing exasperation!
